PHYSIOTHERAPY
Our treatment approaches are research based and draw on many years of clinical experience. A typical rehabilitation plan will include manual therapy, a progressive exercise programme, education and advice, and electrotherapy.
As Chartered Physiotherapists we are specifically trained in manual therapy, which is often referred to as “hands-on” treatment. The benefits of manual therapy include, the alleviation of pain, improved range and quality of movement, increased flexibility and enhanced healing. We use many types of manual therapy to support your recovery, including; joint mobilisations (movements), massage and stretching techniques.
A progressive exercise programme is critical to a full recovery. Our approach ensures that the effected muscle, joints, ligaments etc. return to their optimum state. We use exercise to reduce pain and increase movement, flexibility, strength, fitness and most importantly to prevent recurrence of the problem.
We place a strong emphasis on educating you on the nature of problem, and advising you what will help the recovery. Ensuring you are fully informed is a proven part of achieving the best results, and we always welcome the opportunity to answer any questions you have.
Electrotherapy involves the use of machines that apply an energy (ultrasound, electrical impulses, thermal) to the body, which aid the reduction of symptoms and improve healing for various conditions. We have a suite of electrotherapy machines that have proven efficacy.
For people with lower back problems that are acute or benefit from ongoing treatment, we use traction. This device provides a comfortable stretch to the body and is very effective for pain relief.
